Célebre pistolero del viejo oeste que ha sido utilizado como personaje en muchos westerns y en particular su participación el Duelo en el O.K. Corral, en la ciudad de Tombstone, Arizona, llevado a cabo el 26 de octubre de 1881

Por cierto que el libro de Lake se ha considerado siempre poco confiable en su investigación histórica sobre Earp y Hollyday, ya que parece que dejó volar en demasía su imaginación o se atuvo mucho a la versión que de su vida le hizo el propio Earp, en los años veinte, poco antes de morir.
