Acabo de ver completa por el canal español 13 tv LOS CUATRO JINETES DEL APOCALIPSIS y me reafirmo en mi admiración por el cine de Vincent Minelli,maestro del musical,el melodrama y la comedia,no fue un director todo terreno en el sentido de que no rodó wensterns ni films belicos ni de aventuras pero su elegancia en la puesta en escena-esos rojos de Minelli-la intensidad de sus melodramas-capaces de competir con los de Sirk-y su dedicación al musical y ala comedia le garantizan un puesto en el olimpo de los dioses,casado con Judy garland y padre de Liza Minelli,Minelli supo emplear el formato cinemascope y el color como pocos directores de su generación,habia directores como Tourneur que afirmaban el formato panoramico solo era bueno para filmar serpientes pero los wensterns de los cincuenta y el cine de Minelli demuestran que el cine necesitaba la pantalla panoramica como el sediento el vaso de agua,desde la irrupción de la televisión a fines de los cuarenta en los USA,la gran industria se devano los sesos buscando como combatir a aquella pequeña pantalla que vaciaba los cine en los primeros cincuenta y el cinerama y el cinemascope-amen de marylyn monroe-fuerón las armas buscadas,fue en el cinemascope donde el mundo abigarrado e intenso de Minelli alcanzo toda su intensidad,es imposible concebir peliculas como TELA DE ARAÑA,EL LOCO DEL PELO ROJO,MI DESCONFIADA ESPOSA,COMO UN TORRENTEM,CON EL LLEGO EL ESCANDALO,LOS CUATRO JINETES DEL APOCALIPSIS,DOS SEMANAS EN OTRA CIUDAD ETC sin el cinemascope,la creatividad de Minelli se desborda con el formato panoramico,cierto es que Minelli empezo en los primeros cuarenta y tiene estimables peliculas en blanco y negro -MADAME BOVARY,CORRIENTE OCULTA,CAUTIVOS DEL MAL-pero Minelli sin color ni scope no es Minelli al cien por cien-ese fastuoso mobiliario de LOS CUATRO JINETES DEL APOCALIPSIS,LA DRAMATICA vida de Vincent van Gogh y sus momentos de felicidad en los verdes y soleados campos del Midi frances,el drama interior del director de ccine torturado por el recuerdo de una feme fatale en DOS SEMANAS EN OTRA CIUDAD-PARA MI MINELLI es color e intensidad
